1. Release History
March 29, 2012
Sitecore Social Connected module v1.1.0 rev. 120329 for Sitecore CMS 6 is released.
Sitecore versions: tested with Sitecore CMS 6.5.0 Update-3 and below.
New Features
- The module is supported by Sitecore Customer Service.
- The module can post updates to social accounts of your website visitors, given their permission, when they trigger certain goals in Sitecore DMS. The module architecture and item structure in the social center has been updated to support multiple web applications for every social network for multisite scenarios.
- New “Add an Account” wizard has been implemented, greatly simplifying the task of adding social accounts to Sitecore, to be later use in social messaging.
- A scheduled job for updating user information in background has been added. (358977)
- A new ‘matchUser’ pipeline has been introduced for better extensibility when website visitors log in using social network accounts. The pipeline allows developers to override how corresponding Sitecore users are located or created.
Improvements
- The module UI can now be localized into multiple languages.
- Multisite and multiserver scenarios are now supported when generating links in social messaging.
- The social messaging UI in the Content Editor has been improved and now reports status and potential errors for updates that are sent to social networks.
- Error handling procedures have been revised to handle interoperation with all supported social networks. The module now also provides hooks for website developers to react to these conditions.
- The default field mapping has been revised to request less information from social networks, Facebook in particular, to reduce the number of web requests made by the module.
- When users are created in Sitecore and no email information is available (for example Twitter does not normally provide user email), the module will no longer configure such users with fake email addresses. The email field will remain blank in such case.
- The module now stores compound Facebook profile fields, such as list of friends or interests, using JSON instead of proprietary format.
- The “Connect Panel” component has been removed from the distribution in favor of individual social network login buttons.
Bug fixes
- A number of compatibility issues with Sitecore 6.5.1 Update-2 and above were resolved.
- Redirection did not work correctly in cases when a website visitor does not agree to give access permissions to their social network account. (358937)
- Social messages did not published automatically when Sitecore published the content items that the messages associated with. (359119)
- Facebook messages can now correctly display images from Sitecore Media Library. (357078)
- With certain website configuration, the module generated incorrect fully qualified URLs in social messages. (357781)
